A good start to the season at Forest of Dean March Hares ride, in wonderful sunshine, although very cold and frosty.

Despite our training being restricted due to the snow in January & February this year we completed at 14.10kph with a Heart Rate of 40bpm at the end – so Spirit is fitter than we expected!

 

December 2009

At the EnduranceGB Annual Awards dinner on Spirit received a distance award, a beautiful engraved crystal bowl for 4800 completive kilometres during his competitive career so far.

 

We also won the ADONIS TROPHY - awarded to the horse/pony gaining the most points in the Endurance Rides in the current season.  Three best scores to count.

 

November 2009

At the EnduranceGB Cotswold Group Annual Awards evening Spirit was the winner of the Senior Trophy.

 

3rd & 4th October 2009

Winner of Dragons Tail 2 day competition at RedDragon – 80k ER on day 1 (placed 2nd) and 40k CR on day 2, winning a years supply of SpeediBeet and other British Horse Feeds feed.

 

20th  June 2009

FEI 3* 160km ride Cirencester Park – finished 2nd at 13.62kph.

 

May 2009

Selected for the EnduranceGB British Team Elite Squad, in preparation for final team to be selected to represent Great Britain at the Endurance European Championships, Assisi Italy, 26th September 2009.

 

May 2008

FEI 3* 160km ride Dukeries, Sherwood Forest. Finished 7th at 15kph. Asked to join EnduranceGB British Team.

 

April 2008

FEI 2* 119k ride at Sangatte, France, with the Senior Development squad – finished 6th at 15.6kph

3 riders from the team of 5 completed the ride – a great result.

At the EnduranceGB Annual Awards dinner on Saturday 1st December Spirit received a distance award for 4200 completive kilometres during his competitive career so far. What an achievement!! We were also part of the ‘MadBats’ team of 4 riders (with Helen Barrett, Kirsty Wiscombe) who came 2nd in the Green Dragon Trophy.

 

27th November 2006

At the EnduranceGB Annual Awards dinner on Saturday 25th November Jill Kent & Bitterwell Spirit were announced as Supreme National Champions for 2006.

They received the following awards:

 

MANAR TROPHY

Awarded to the overall high point horse/pony of the year gaining the most points in all types of rides, with 3308 points.

With thanks to the sponsors Saintwestwell Saddlery, who have given Spirit a beautiful saddle, and Blue Chip Feeds, who have given Spirit an embroidered fleece rug.

 

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Awarded to the champion horse/pony ridden by Senior Member(s) gaining the most points in all types of rides.

 With thanks to the sponsor Blue Chip Feeds, who gave an embroidered jacket for the rider.

 

SENIOR GRAND PRIX TROPHY

Awarded to the horse/pony and Senior Rider combination gaining the most points in Endurance Rides in the current season, with 2915 points

 

ADONIS TROPHY

Awarded to the horse/pony gaining the most points in Endurance Rides in the current season.  Three best scores to count, with 1715 points.

 

MESAOUD TROPHY

Awarded to the Pure Bred Arabian gaining the most points in all types of rides..

 

Spirit also received a distance award for 3600 completive kilometres during his competitive career so far.
